Muscle XL Exclusive Interview With Fitness Guru Hit Richards

George "Hit" Richards is on a serious mission, and that mission is to get your ass in shape! He is one of the founders of Calisthenics Kingz, which is an organization of professional, performance-based fitness experts who promote fitness through a form a exercise called calisthenics. I talked with Hit recently about his fitness philosophy, and how he plans to get you in the best shape of your life. Check out the interview, plus some amazing shots of Hit, after the jump.

MXL: For those who don't know, can you briefly explain what calisthenics is?

Hit: Calisthenics is defined as a form of exercises using your own body as resistance to promote muscular development and physical well being.

MXL: Why is this form of exercise so appealing to you as opposed to other approaches?

Hit: I love this kind of fitness because it's more challenging then using universal equipment/free weights. I also believe it sculpts and develops the muscles much better.

MXL: Were you always so attractive and in good shape, or did you go through an "ugly ducking" phase?

Hit: Yes I was always athletic growing up. I really don't remember going through an "ugly ducking" stage.

MXL: Exactly how, when, and why did you get so involved in fitness?

Hit: Like I've stated, I've always been athletic growing up, so getting into fitness wasn't hard because I've always done push-ups etc. But I really got into working out in 1996 and I haven't stopped since.

MXL: Are you involved in any fitness modeling? Do you compete in any fitness or bodybuilding competitions? If not, do you plan to participate in these engagements?

Hit: No I am not involved in any fitness modeling, and I don't compete in bodybuilding. I don't have an interest in competing in bodybuilding, but I want to turn this type of fitness into an extreme sport, so guys can compete against each other.

MXL: What is your best/favorite body part on yourself? What is your least favorite, or an area that you think you could work more on?

Hit: My favorite body part is my abs. I don't have a least favorite body part. I work all my body parts evenly, and I'm very strong.

MXL: How important is nutrition in living a healthier lifestyle, and what does your diet consist of?

Hit: Nutrition is very important in living a healthier lifestyle, that is why I've included a whole dieting & nutrition section on my BOOTCAMP BASICS:CALISTHENICS INSTRUCTIONAL DVD. My personal diet is high in protein and low to no carbs.

MXL: Do you have a favorite "pig out" food, and if so, what is it, and how often do you eat it?

Hit: Sorry, I don't have a "pig out" food, I love eating healthy.

MXL: As a trainer, what would you say is the hardest part about training someone? What is the most rewarding part?

Hit: The hardest part is explaining and letting the client know that they can't achieve their goals overnight, and the reward is when I help all my clients reach and achieve their ultimate fitness goals.

MXL: What are your thoughts on steroids, and how would you advise someone who is considering using them?

Hit: I think steroids are terrible. People should not use them!

MXL: How do you get somebody motivated and inspired to work out that is either lazy, likes to complain, or who claims that they just have no time?

Hit: Well people are generally interested in working out when they see  me performing my amazing fitness  moves.

MXL: What has been your greatest and most memorable success story with you training someone? What state was your client in before you worked with them, what were some of the biggest challenges that you and your client faced during your work with them, and what was the overall outcome?

Hit: I've only trained here in N.Y.C. and all my clients stories are successful, because I don't settle for anything less then that.

MXL: Tell us about your newest DVD that you just launched. What is it about and how can people get ahold of it?

Hit: Well my latest DVD is called "POWER FROM PUSH-UPS, STRENGTH OF A MAN." It's a showcase of me educating you on all variations of push-ups, some you've seen and most you've never seen. I also have routines you can incorporate into your own workout. I also have tutorials that teach and explain how to do freestanding handstands, handstand push-ups, tiger bend push-ups, etc.

MXL: Some of the exercises that you do in your videos look almost acrobatic, so tell us, are your videos for beginners also, or for advanced people only?

Hit: My DVDS are for all levels, beginner, intermediate, and advance stages. You can learn a lot from each one of them.

MXL: What other products do you have available for people?

Hit: I also have T-shirts for both men & women and I also have fitness work-out gloves.

MXL: Do you have plans for more DVD's in the future? What other kinds of projects will you be working on?

Hit: Yes I have several other projects I'm working on, however I can't really disclose what they are, however people may feel free to follow me on my facebook page and also join my website forum, because members on my forum get notifications first of everything we have coming out.

MXL: What are some of your ultimate career goals in the fitness world, and the world in general, that you plan to conquer?

Hit: This you shall see !!! lol.

MXL: Do you have any fears about your career? If so, how do you plan to overcome them, and what would you say to people about conquering their fears so that they can reach their full potential?

Hit: No fears. I live my life fearless!
